Karaçoban
Karaçoban is a district of Erzurum province. It is located at a distance of 166 km southeast of Erzurum province. The history of Karaçoban district dates back to 1400 BC. It remained under the rule of Persians for many years, then passed into the hands of the Byzantines. After the Seljuk Sultan Alparslan won the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, Karaçoban came under Turkish rule. While Anatolian unity was ensured during the rise of the Ottoman Empire, Karaçoban came under Ottoman rule again. The district, which was under the occupation of the Russian Empire for a short time before the First World War, joined the Ottoman domination again. The district center was built on the narrow and long alluvial fill of the Hınıs Stream, which forms an important branch of the Murat River, extending in the east-west direction. It is surrounded by Akdağ Massif (2953 m) in the north, Akdoğan Mountain (2879 m) in the south and Güzelbaba Mountains (2100 m) in the east. It is observed that the income level of the people is low, but the majority of the people have investments in many cities, especially in Istanbul. There are no industrial facilities in Karaçoban.
