Karakoçan

Karakoçan is a district of Elazığ province. It became a district in 1936. As of today, the district has 1 town, 88 villages and 7 neighborhoods. The settlement, which is the only town connected to Karakoçan, bears the name Sarıcan. Sarıcan Town consists of two neighborhoods. Although there is no historically significant settlement in the center of Karakoçan, there are many historically significant settlements in and around its nearby villages. Foremost among these is the Bagin Castle, which was built on Peri Stream, which forms the border of Karakoçan district and Mazgirt district, and is 12 km away from the district. In addition, they appear as other artifacts in historical churches in many villages of the district. Every year, thousands of people visit the Golan thermal springs, located on the edge of Peri Stream, in the district, which has rich natural beauties. Again in the town center, Kalecik Dam Pine House, Beyaz Çeşme Recreation Area, and Güzelbaba Forest are resting places popular with the people in the summer months.
