Karapürçek
Karapürçek is the oldest district of Sakarya. Although the date of its establishment is unknown, it is considered to be one of the largest settlements in the Byzantine period. There is not sufficient and precise information about the ancient history of the district. However, it is mentioned that it has the same history as Sakarya province. According to this; The sovereignty of the Bithynia Kingdom, which started in the 3rd century BC, continued until the Roman domination in the 1st century BC. Sakarya region, which is within the borders of the Byzantine Optimization Theme, was occupied by the Arabs from time to time. Although Artuk Bey from the Seljuks defeated the Byzantines here at the end of the 11th century, the region fell into the hands of the Seljuks, but in 1072 the Byzantines again dominated the region. Later, it came under the rule of the Crusaders, Danishmends, Anatolian Seljuks and the Iznik Empire, which was founded in 1097 in Iznik. In 1324, it was joined to the Ottoman lands by Konuralp and Akçakoca.
