Karayazı
The name Karayazı comes from the word snow lettering, which means snow-covered plain. While it was previously a village of Pasinler, it became a district in 1938. While the district center was now Çullu neighborhood, which is connected to the Köprüköy district, it was later moved to its present location. It is the coldest place in Turkey. The harsh continental climate is dominant throughout the district. Snow falls towards the end of October at the earliest. It continues until the end of May. The average thickness of the snow cover is 75 cm. However, this thickness reaches up to 150 cm outside the District. In the district, 90 days of the year are open, 200 days are semi-cloudy/cloudy and 75 days are closed. The region, which receives heavy snowfall, therefore has very productive pastures.
