Kars Center

Kars is the central district of Kars province. It is one of the cities with the highest altitude in Turkey, with a population of over 100 thousand including its villages. There are 23 neighborhoods and 72 villages connected to the central district. It is possible to talk about cultural differences and riches in the city center where various ethnicities live together and there is a cosmopolitan structure. Kars is one of the 15 provincial centers included in the Turkish Tourism Strategy 2023 and Tourism Strategy Action Plan for 2023 by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The aim of this project is to declare the city centers as "Brand Cities to Develop Cultural Tourism" and to ensure their development.

Kars is a border city that was the capital of the Bagratlı Kingdom and the Cenub-u Garbi Caucasus Government (Southwest Caucasus Republic). With this feature, it is one of the rare cities in Turkey that has been the capital of any country.

This city, which is Turkey's gateway to the Caucasus, started to develop rapidly with the opening of the Caucasus University and became a student city in time. In addition, thanks to the airport, which is six kilometers away from the city center, it is located at the intersection of the transportation network in its region. Apart from this, there is no problem in transportation to other settlements of the country via road and railway networks.
