Keşan
It is the 6th largest settlement in Turkish Thrace after Çorlu, Tekirdağ, Çerkezköy, Edirne and Lüleburgaz. It is surrounded by İpsala and Uzunköprü in the north, Malkara in Tekirdağ in the east, Şarköy in Tekirdağ in the southeast, Gallipoli of Çanakkale in the south, Enez districts in the southwest and the Aegean Sea. The town of Eşan has a history that started with the Luwians and Thracians since the 30th century BC. The region remained under the rule of ancient Greek, Persian, Macedonian and Byzantine, and came under Ottoman rule in the second half of the 14th century. During the Ottoman period, it was a sub-district affiliated to the provinces of Rumeli and Kaptanpaşa and the İpsala district of the Gelibolu Sanjak of the Edirne province. According to the 1892 yearbook written by the Edirne Province Printing House Director Şevket Dağdeviren; Keşan county, which is affiliated to the Gallipoli Sanjak, has a total population of 10,447, consisting of 2140 Muslims, 7155 Greeks, 909 Bulgarians and 233 Gypsies in 3667 households in 55 villages and farms and 9 neighborhoods.
