Kâğıthane

Kâğıthane is a district on the European side of Istanbul. It is surrounded by Sarıyer in the north, Beşiktaş in the northeast, Şişli in the east and south, Beyoğlu in the southwest and Eyüpsultan in the west. The district has a short coastline to the Golden Horn, where the Kâğıthane Stream ends. During the Byzantine period, the name of Kağıthane Stream was Barbisos. Although there is no exact information, it is stated that there was a paper mill here during the conquest of Istanbul and that this mill dates back to World War II. It is understood that he worked until the Bayezid period (1481-1512). While describing the area around Kağıthane in the 17th century, Evliya Çelebi states that there was a paper mill in ruins here. The name of the district and the district must have come from this paper office. The land structure is rugged and consists of streams and valleys. These areas are used as residential areas.
