Kırıkkale City Center
It is the district that is the center of Kırıkkale province. It gained municipal status in 1941. It was established, developed and grown on the lands of Kırık village. Factors such as laying the foundations of the Ammunition Factory in the 1920s and the passing of DDY played an important role in the formation of the city. With the construction of the Ammunition Factory, the city began to receive immigration and the 12-household Kırık village was built as a parish in 1929 and used as "Kırıkkale".
Kırıkkale is an Anatolian town with a population of 3000 in 1929. The first settlements are on the TCDD route; It started to form in the Fabrikalar District, Ovacık District, Kurtuluş and Hüseyin Kahya Districts, which bear the same name today.
The population of the city increased to 4599 in the 1935 General Census. People from the surrounding provinces begin to migrate here to work in the factories of the Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation. Since it is the first years of the Republic, "industry" leads the growth of the city. In addition, Kırıkkale is home to the Orta Anadolu Kırıkkale Refinery, one of Turkey's 5 refineries.[1]
It became a province on 21 June 1989 with a ceremony organized by the President of the time, Turgut Özal.
There are 31 neighborhoods and 9 villages in the central district.
