Kırklareli City Center

Kırklareli is the city that is the center of Kırklareli province. Kırklareli is a province with many ancient settlements due to its location throughout history. The first material documents about people in Kırklareli and its vicinity, which were understood to have been under water for a long time at the end of the ice age, give the characteristics of the Neolithic period. Thrace, which took its name from the first settled tribes known later, was able to maintain its independence as a small kingdom or principality, partially or completely, until the middle of the Roman period, including Kırklareli. Kırklareli, which suffered many invasions during the Roman and Byzantine periods due to being a transitional region, was captured by the Ottomans for the first time in 1363 during the reign of Murat I. Having experienced a long peace process since this date, Kırklareli gained its final freedom on November 10, 1922, after suffering great persecution and troubles after being subjected to Bulgarian and Greek occupation during the Balkan War and the First World War.
