Kocaali

Kocaali, the district of Sakarya province, is the westernmost settlement on the coast of the Black Sea Region. The main sources of livelihood are hazelnut farming, animal husbandry and tourism.

There is a sand beach with a length of 14 km and a width of 500 meters. The Maden Stream, which starts from the south of the district, flows into the Black Sea in the north. The climate shows typical Black Sea climate characteristics in Turkey. The historical areas are as follows; Mining quarries from the Ottoman period in Maden Deresi In Şerbetpınarı, the monastery is located in Gümüşoluk village. In addition, the settlement establishment on the coast in the district is two and a half floors and a garden with the decision taken by the district municipality. It is two hours from Istanbul and three hours from Ankara, and industrialists are encouraged by the municipality.

The first place of establishment of Kocaali is the area where the football stadium is located today. There was a settlement called Ceharköy here. People call this area Ciharköy today. He was named Kocaali after the big-bodied person named Ali, who helped the people when they migrated to higher places, where they are today, due to illness.

There is Melen Stream flowing into the sea from the east of Kocaali District. It is one of the important rafting areas in the Marmara region of Turkey. The water of the Melen Stream is sent to Istanbul as drinking water through a regulator. Melen Project, which will meet the water needs of Istanbul for 40 years, takes its water from within the boundaries of the district. With the Melen Dam, which is under construction, both electricity will be produced and more drinking water will be sent to Istanbul.

Pine Mountain, which is also suitable for nature tourism; It is in the south of Kocaali district. The Lahna Stream (Çamdağı Stream), which originates from the NE slopes of Çamdağı, flows into the Melen Stream in Ortaköy. Most of the Lahna Creek valley will be submerged by the Melen Dam waters.

The Black Sea climate is effective in Turkey, where the winters are not too cold and the summers are not too hot in Kocaali, where the precipitation is abundant and regularly distributed throughout the seasons. The annual average temperature is 13.2 °C, the hottest month is July with 21 °C, and the coldest month is January with 5.4 °C. The average annual precipitation is 917 mm, the least precipitation is in May with 52 mm, the highest precipitation is in December with 123 mm. Kocaali is located in the region with the highest relative humidity, along with the western shores of the Black Sea.
