Korgun
Korgun is a district of Çankırı province. The region where Korgun is located has remained in the settlement area of the Hittites since the 13th century BC. The Romans dominated the region in 64 BC and this situation lasted until the 11th century. Today, there are Roman cemeteries near Alpsarı and Ildızım Villages on the territory of the district.
After the victory of the Great Seljuk Ruler Alparslan in Manzikert in 1071, the region, including the district lands, came under the rule of the Turks. It is known that the region, which came under Ottoman rule during the reign of Yıldırım Beyazıt, has been the lands of Çandaroğulları and İsfendiyaroğulları Principality since 1309.
During the First World War and the War of Independence, the people of the region showed many examples of heroism. In 1925, during the Hat Revolution, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk moved from Korgun to Kastamonu. Korgun takes its name from the Kargin tribe of the Oghuzs who settled in the region.
