Mahmudiye

Mahmudiye is a district of Eskişehir Province. Its population is about 8 thousand. It became a district in the 1950s. The most important feature of Mahmudiye, which includes 15 villages, is that the Turkey Jockey Club stud farm is located here. The bred foals are sold by auction in May - June every year. Some of the foals can be sold for 150-200 thousand TL. In addition, horse races are held for 1 month in September every year. At the same time T.C. Anadolu Agricultural Enterprises, one of the 3 largest enterprises of the General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM) in Turkey, is also located in this district. The foals raised here are sold to horse owners and raced on the racecourses. Anadolu Agricultural Enterprise raised the most important horses in the history of Turkish horse racing and hosted their stallions.
