Marmara

It is a district of Balıkesir province consisting of archipelagos. It covers the Marmara Island and the small islands around it. The origin of the word marble comes from here. It is famous for its marble. Paşalimanı Island, on the other hand, is not connected to the Marmara county, but to the Erdek county.

The Marmara Islands are located in a shallow sea area between the island Kapıdağ Peninsula and Şarköy in the southwest of the Sea of Marmara. The largest of the islands in the Sea of Marmara, the Marmara Island, whose name comes from marble and Marmor, has an area of approximately 110 km². The highest point of the island is İlyas Tepe, also known as Radar Tepe.
