Merzifon
The region has hosted many civilizations throughout history. This plain, which is suitable for hunting and agriculture with its lakes, fertile lands, and known as Yediler, became a home for people about 7 thousand years ago. The roads leading to the Black Sea coast and central Anatolia intersect at Merzifon. For this reason, the geographer and historian Strabo defined this region as the "Thousand Villages" region.
In the archaeological researches carried out in the region, which Strabo stated as a thousand villages, the existence of hundreds of mounds and settlements was determined. According to the pottery and finds obtained from these mounds, it was understood that the history of Merzifon dates back to 5500 BC. Here you can visit Sultaniye Madrasa and Taşhan.
