Mezitli
Mezitli is one of the four central districts of Mersin province.
It is affiliated to Mersin Metropolitan Municipality. The district organization was established in 2008. Its total area is 515.79 km² and its altitude is 5 m. Its distance from the center is 11 km. It is surrounded by Erdemli in the west, Yenişehir in the east, and Toroslar in the north. The district consists of 40 neighborhoods. The largest of these neighborhoods is Merkez Mahallesi with a population of 26,420, and the smallest neighborhood is Pelitkoyağı Mahallesi with a population of 128. The total number of buildings is 8,849, the total number of parcels is 13,324, and the total number of households is 78,889. The district is developed in terms of tourism. Mersin University's Çiftlikköy (Central) Campus is located in this district. It is a developed and modern town along the coast. There are mostly local people of Mersin and university students.
Geography
The district is located on the Mediterranean coast. Most of the 3/4 of Mezitli's land consists of mountains, plateaus and undulating terrain. The coastline between the mountain and the sea narrows towards the west. With this location, the Taurus Mountains create a barrier against the north winds, causing the typical Mediterranean climate to prevail.
About 300 days of the year are sunny. The average daily sunshine duration is 7.4 hours, and this period varies between 8-10 hours in summer. The average humidity is 72% and it is very close to each other in all months. Average humidity varies between 65-75% according to the months. The annual average temperature is 18.40. The average temperature of the summer months is 25 – 33 °C, the average temperature of the winter months is 9-15 °C, and the average sea water temperature is 20 °C. The sea water temperature, which rises up to 28 °C in summer, maintains this temperature for a long time and is the most important factor prolonging the tourism season in the district.
Annual precipitation average is 618.6 kg/m². The most precipitation is in December and the least precipitation is in August. There is no plain in the district, and Gemrik, Garkın, Kalegedigi, Gelin Kayası, Eyüp Kayası, Hazmur, Karagedik, Gicik Kayası, Hürükızları Kepez, Manıt, Saladağ, Kuşkayası, Durnaz, Cheese, Koca Ellez Mountains are located in the north. These mountains average 1,400-1,800 m. between heights. Kandak, Tece and Mezitli streams are located in the district center.
The vegetation is maquis up to 500–600 m with the shore. Oak 100 – 1000 m, red pine 100 – 1200 m, larch 1500 m, cedar and juniper 2000 m. seen at heights. After 2500 m, bushes and grasslands are encountered. These are the living places of the nomads (Yörüks).

In the same year, the Mezitli Municipality awarded the Soli Pompeipolis Colonnaded Street project a success award in the 16th competition organized by the Historical Cities Association (TKB) in order to encourage cultural heritage protection and promotion projects. And following this, in the competition organized by TKB for the 17th time in 2018, the Mezitli Municipality was awarded a success award for the Taş Mektep (Cumhuriyet Primary School) project. And in the same year, Mezitli Municipality won the International Guangzhou Urban Innovation Award in the competition held in China with the Women Producer Market project and attended by many countries of the world (313 applications from 213 cities).
