Mihalgazi
Mihalgazi, formerly known as Gümele, is a district of Eskişehir province. In Ottoman history, while it was a village connected to the Sultanönü (Eskişehir) sanjak, it was first connected to the Göynük district, first to Bursa, and then to Bolu, respectively. In 1868, Gümele was a village in the Göynük district of the Bolu Sanjak of the Kastamonu province. In 1894, it was connected to Inhisar subdivision of Söğüt District of Bilecik. However, the peasant situation lasted for 32 years. Village people repelled the Greek army from İnhisar during the Turkish War of Independence. In the same year, Mihalgazi left İnhisar and became a sub-district of Söğüt. Mihalgazi, which maintained this status until 1946, was connected to the Merkez district of Eskişehir in 1946 and to the district of Sarıcakaya in 1957. Mihalgazi, which was a town in 1967, became a district in 1990. It has 9 districts. Mihalgazi Municipality, like other district and town municipalities outside the Merkez district, is affiliated to Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality.
