Mihalıcçık

District / Mihalıcçık, Turkiye, Central Anatolia, Eskişehir

Mihalıcçık

Mihalıççık is a district of Eskişehir Province. It was the district of Ankara until 1915 and was occupied by the Greeks for a very short time during the War of Independence. Although there are many rumors that the name Mihalıççık comes from Köse Mihal or his son Mihalgazi, no definitive historical document has been obtained yet. The people of the district earn their living from agriculture, animal husbandry, mining and service sectors. District lands are generally mountainous and forested. Due to its land structure, distance from transportation roads and lack of industry, the district center is a typical Anatolian town that has not lost its naturalness. It is a district with a fully continental climate, hot in summers, heavy rain in winters, and cool winds in the evenings, even in summer, due to its altitude, where the temperature difference between day and night is very high. The Sündiken Mountains stretch in the north. Sakarya River flows from the north of the district. Sarıyar and Gökçekaya dams and power plants on this river are also in Mihalıççık district.
