Özalp
Özalp District was established in 1869 under the name of Mahmudiye in today's Saray District Center. In 1948, the district center was re-established in its current location under the name Özalp. The old name of the district center is Kargali, which is now a neighborhood. The Iranian State and Saray District in the east, Van City Center in the west, Muradiye and Özalp Districts in the north were established in 1869 in the present Saray District Center under the name of Mahmudiye.
