Sındırgı

District / Sındırgı, Turkiye, Marmara, Balıkesir

Sındırgı

The municipality was established in 1884, and in 1913 it was separated from Bigadiç and became a district. The people of the district, which was occupied by the Greeks on June 29, 1920, frightened the Greek troops by fighting with all their heart, and the invaders, who realized that they could not shelter in one place, left the district after starting many fires.

Sındırgı, who got rid of the invaders on September 3, 1922, celebrates this day every year by accepting it as the official liberation day.
