Sorgun

Sorgun is a district of Yozgat.

The original spelling of the word Sorgun in the Ottoman period was Sorkun. In some sources, Sorgun can also be seen as Sorhun. It comes from the name of a Mongolian general (Sorkhon Shira) of Turkish origin during the Çobanoğulları principality. The word means flower and willow tree in Persian.
