Sorgun
Sorgun is a district of Yozgat.
The original spelling of the word Sorgun in the Ottoman period was Sorkun. In some sources, Sorgun can also be seen as Sorhun. It comes from the name of a Mongolian general (Sorkhon Shira) of Turkish origin during the Çobanoğulları principality. The word means flower and willow tree in Persian. In the Turkish Language Institution Scan Dictionary, the articles in the old literature containing the words sorkun, Sorgun, sorhun are shown. There are many settlements named Sorgun and Sorkun in Turkey.
