Sumbas

Sumbas is a district of Osmaniye Province. The municipality of Sumbas emerged as a result of the establishment of a municipal organization under the name of "Sumbas" by combining the villages of Karaömerli and Dügenli on December 11, 1991, when it was a part of Kadirli district. On October 24, 1996, with the law numbered 4200, Osmaniye was made a province and the town of Sumbas received the status of a district. With its orange groves, cotton fields, cold water flowing through the canals, fig trees, and cactus trees lined up along the road, it looks more like a village than a town. The livelihood of the people is animal husbandry and agriculture. For this purpose, the dam built in Mehmetli town is used for irrigation purposes.
