Uzundere
Uzundere, which used to be the sub-district center of Tortum district, was founded in 1987. Tortum Lake and Tortum Waterfall are within the borders of this district. The majority of its population consists of Kipchaks, Meskhetian Turks and Hemshins. The district is adjacent to Yusufeli, Tortum and Oltu districts. Uzundere District received the title of calm city in March 2016. The calm city movement, which started in Italy in 1999 with the Cittaslow movement, was born as a reaction to the standardization of traditional values of societies by global powers and the loss of environmental values. The Black Sea climate is dominant in the district.
