In 1992, it was separated from Küçükçekmece and turned into a district. There is no village settlement in the district through which the TEM and D100 highways pass. Küçükçekmece Lake to the east; the Marmara Sea to the south; Beylikdüzü and Esenyurt to the west; It is adjacent to Başakşehir in the north. There are wide empty plains especially on the shores of Küçükçekmece Lake and in the northern parts.
