Taşkışla

The cable car line operating between Taşkışla and Maçka opened on April 11, 1993. Eliminating the difficulty of road and pedestrian access between Democracy Park and the Beyoğlu Marriage Office, the cable car line saves time and offers a unique Istanbul experience with its unparalleled views along the route.

It is an aerial transport system with no intermediate supports and two stations, operating with two cabins in one direction and a total of four cabins, each carrying six people. The line operates with two cables, one for carrying and one for pulling. Between the two stations located in Maçka and Taşkışla, the 333.5-meter-long line has a capacity to carry 12 people in one direction. In the event of a power failure, the cabins are brought to the stations using generator power. During braking, one brake engages first, and the second brake engages when there is a malfunction in speed reduction and when stopping at the stations. The entry speeds of the cabins into the stations are controlled and commanded by a distance detector in the direction of the station entrance. The cabins are stopped at each station by means of hydraulic brakes. This stopping is performed safely using two separate distance detectors.
