Legend of Giresun Gelin Kayasi
According to the legend of Gelin Kayası, “a beautiful young girl was asked to marry a man she did not like through an arranged marriage. The good-hearted girl, who was very respectful to her parents, was not in a position to object to this. She secretly wanted to unite her life with another young man of the village and marry him. But she was afraid to share this with her family (especially her father). She could not stop herself from marrying a man she did not know and did not love. The wedding date came and finally she was sent to her husband's house as a bride. As she was being carried on a horse in front of the bridal procession, she prayed and begged to Allah, 'O Allah, don't let me fall into the hands of a bad husband, stone me with ice-cream'. The good-hearted bride's prayer was answered at that moment and she became a stone on a horse in front of the bridal procession”. Another feature of Gelin Kayasi is the silhouette of a face when viewed from one side.
