Işıklar Mountain

Işıklar or Mount Ganos is a mountain range extending in the northeast-southwest direction along the northern shores of the Marmara Sea, within the borders of Tekirdağ province. Işıklar Mountain is the highest part of Tekir Mountains, which gives its name to the province within the borders of Şarköy district, with an altitude of 945 meters.

The mountain is located in the northern Anatolian mountain belt in the second geological period. The northern Anatolian fault also has an effect on its formation. The mountain takes its name from the ancient settlement of Ganos, located in the borders of Gaziköy today, where Xenophon wrote that the coastal city groove belonging to the Thracian King Seuthes.

Işıklar Mountain, which is the highest area of the province with a height of 945 m, is a young elevation area with a length of 35 kilometers and a width of 10 kilometers.
