Kaçkar Mountain Sea Lake
Located between Rize and Yusufeli, the highest peak of the Kaçkar Mountains is Kavron (3932 m.), which has the appearance of a natural park with its sharp glaciers that can be observed throughout the year, deep blue lakes, forests with every shade of green, exuberant streams, thousands of different plants and animals.
Hundreds of mountaineers visit Kaçkars, which is easy to climb from the southern route, every year. If there is no fog, you can watch the magnificent view of the Eastern Black Sea mountains. The easier it is to climb the mountain in summer, the harder it is to climb in winter. In winter the snow fills the valleys, covers the plateaus and the houses disappear. In addition, the slope of the glaciers is always prone to avalanches. June and September are the best months for summer climbing and February and March are the best months for winter climbing.
It is covered with vast green forests and meadows and has an ideal location for hunting, plateau and mountain tourism. Yaylalar village is an intermediate accommodation center for those who want to climb Mount Kaçkar. At an altitude of 2860 m., Dilber plain is the closest camping place to the summit of Kaçkar Mountains. There is no infrastructure in Dilber plain, which has plenty of cold water. It is dangerous to climb the 3932 m. high Kaçkar Mountains from Dilber Düzü without a guide. It is possible to provide animals from Yusufeli district or the villages on the road for the guide and transportation of goods. Wild animals such as lynx, bears, wild goats, wolves, jackals, foxes, etc. can be seen in the region.
