Mount Ağrı
Mount Ararat, Turkey's largest legendary mountain, is a mountain that is for its geological location and hosting Noah's Ark after the Great Flood. Mount Ararat, which is also mentioned in the holy books, has many names in different languages. The main ones are Ararat, Kuh-i Noah, Gli Dag, Cebel ul Haris. According to the records, Marco Polo's first climb to the mountain, which he was stated to never be able to climb, was on October 9, 1829, by Prof. Read by Frederik Von Parat. The second winter climb, on February 21, 1970, long after the first climb, was carried out by one of the former presidents of the Mountaineering Federation, Dr. Thousands of mountaineers visited Mount Ararat in the 1980s. Mount Ararat is visited by thousands of local and foreign mountaineers every year. Its height is 5137 meters and the dimensions of Iran increase in Eastern Anatolia. (Between Aras-Murat Rivers) The best time for climbing is July, August and September. Winter climbs are challenging but enjoyable. Winter solo climbing of Mount Ararat is the ultimate goal for all mountaineers.
Mount Ararat is the highest peak of the Anatolian Peninsula and Europe. It shows the characteristics of a volcanic mountain by forming basalt up to 4 thousand meters, then andesite lavas at the next height. There is a cover glacier at the top of the mountain. Serdarbulak Plateau and Small Ararat Mountain at an altitude of 3896 meters are located on the eastern face. Mount Ararat has an interesting and attractive appearance with its height, glaciers, people, different structural appearances, grasslands covered up to the snow border and mountain meadows.
