Mount Ahir
Ahir Mountain is situated in the north of Kahramanmaraş Province, standing 2443 meters high. The city of Kahramanmaras is built on the outskirts south of this mountain. Germano-type folds on Mount Ahir and it is composed of layers from the Paleozoic Age. At the mountain summit are the villages of Karagöl, Yedikuyu and Üçkuyu. There are many natural springs and the mountain is lacking in natural vegetation. The most important feature of the mountain range is the abundance of the wild orchid (sahlep) used in making the local ice cream the city is famous for.
