Tahtalı Mountain

Tahtalı Mountain or Olympos Mountain is located in the Western Taurus Mountains, within the Bey Mountains group, on the Teke Peninsula. It lies within the borders of Antalya, southwest of Kemer and west of Tekirova. It is within the borders of Olympos Beydağları National Park. Its lithological structure consists of clastic-carbonate rocks formed by Cambrian-Cretaceous sedimentation. The western route of the Lycian Way passes through the strait on the western side of Tahtalı Mountain. The route passes through old cedars and junipers. There is a cable car service that goes up to the top of the mountain. A 4350 meter long road can be climbed from 726 meters to 2365 meters altitude. With this length, it is one of the few longest cable cars in the world. There are ancient ruins in Beycik on the slopes of Tahtalı Mountain. There are other Hellenistic Period ruins on the southern slopes of the mountain, 3 km NE of Beycik. In ancient times, along with many other mountains, it was called Olympos/Mount Olympus, meaning the mountain of the gods.
