Afkule Monastery

Located in the Kayaköy district of Fethiye, the Afkule Monastery fascinates visitors with its magnificent views and historical texture. Carved into a rocky slope, this monastery was built in the 6th century by Christian monks as a hermitage. The name "Afkule" means "Lower Tower".

To reach the monastery, you need to take a nature walk of approximately 3 kilometers from Kayaköy. During this pleasant walk, you can enjoy the magnificent view of Ölüdeniz as you move among the pine trees. When you arrive at the monastery, an impressive rock-carved architecture awaits you.
