Ağaçaltı Church

Ağaçaltı Church has a free cross plan. The central space is covered with a high drum dome and the arms of the cross are covered with barrel vaults. The frescoes in the church, which were made with the preiconastic technique, are dated between the 9th and 11th centuries. The main apse opening to the central space and the south side apse were destroyed. The corner room in the northwest is barrel vaulted. The room is connected to the northern and western cross arms by round arched openings. The building is entered from the main apse, which has been destroyed today. The original entrances are on the north wall of the south and northwest corner room of the west arm.
