Akbas Martyrdom
Akbaş Martyrdom, which can be the first visit point for visitors coming from Istanbul, is located at the 30th km when moving from Gallipoli to Eceabat. Akbaş Port, where the martyrdom is located, is one of the main supply points of the Turkish troops during the battles, and it is an important center where the war materials coming from Istanbul by sea are landed and distributed. There was a mobile hospital of the 19th Division in Akbaş location. Our soldiers, who were seriously injured on the northern front, were kept under observation in Akbaş or Ağadere Hospital through this location, which mainly served as a "referral hospital". Those who are in serious condition are those who were turned into a hospital in Istanbul.
They were dispatched by ships to be taken to Selimiye Barracks. The martyrs on the ships that were sunk or under heavy attack during the enemy attacks were buried in the main martyrdom area on the right side of the road leading to the village of Yalova. 459 symbolic tombstones have been erected in the martyrdom, and the real martyrdom is 25 m above the road on the right side of the road going in the direction of Yalova village, opposite this monumental cemetery. The area still preserves its 1915 structure and has been surrounded. At the back of the symbolic cemeteries, there is a statue emphasizing what happened between the soldiers of both sides during the war period, with a message of peace and friendship, and a monument dedicated to the 1915 Çanakkale Martyrs. There is also a relief in the martyrdom area describing the activities of the medical units during the Battle of Çanakkale. The names of our 754 martyrs are commemorated on both sides of the relief. He knew how to command Turkish Commanders on the relief and Turkish soldiers died. This is the secret of our war victory. Kemal Ataturk expressions are written. The masjid and fountain at the bottom of the martyrdom serve the visitors. The martyrdom was renewed in 2013 and gained its present appearance.
