Akçakoca Bey Mausoleum
It is known that Akçakoca Bey was born in 1234. He incorporated the regions including Akçakoca- Sapanca and Kandıra into the Ottoman Principality. Known as the Conqueror of Kandıra in history, Akçakoca Bey had an important role in the founding times of the Ottoman Empire. The mausoleum of Akçakoca Bey, who died in Kandıra when he went on a campaign to seize Izmit, is open to visitors within the borders of Kandıra.
