Akdağmadeni Martyrs

Since Akdağmadeni receives more precipitation than the region in general, the natural vegetation is generally forests. Akdağmadeni, which has the largest forest area in the province, has tree species such as scotch pine, juniper, wild hazelnut, spruce and acorn. The areas outside the forest are the steppes and meadows, which are mostly considered as pastures. 32.5% of the district's lands are covered with forests. Turkey's forest average is 13.6; The forest average of the Central Anatolia Region is only 8%.

The only reason why the forest percentage of Akdağmadeni district is higher than the Central Anatolia Region, which it is included in, is the high altitude and the transition climate type compared to Central Anatolia. 20 years ago, 49% of the district's area was covered with forests. However, due to the field openings in recent years, only 32% of the land has forest cover. The forest area in the district is mostly concentrated in the mountainous area in the southeast part. Since there are no large settlements here, forest cover preserves its existence. 65.6% of the district forests are high forests and 34.4% are coppice forests. In the district, there are broad-leaved forests (Meşeliks) and coniferous forests (Larch and Red Pine, whose height reaches 25-30 meters). Coniferous forests are mixed with broad-leaved forests.
