Aksaray Somuncu Baba Tomb

Somuncu Baba is one of the leading scholars and guardians who grew up in Anatolia during the founding years of the Ottoman Empire. Sheikh Hamid-i Veli, who was born in Kayseri in 1349 and known as Somuncu Baba, reached superior degrees in mysticism and science. Somuncu Baba, who came to Aksaray on the return of pilgrimage, continued his science and guidance activities here until the end of his life, and died in Aksaray in 1412. His grave is in the Ervah cemetery in Aksaray. The Somuncu Baba Cultural Center, built right next to the Somuncu Baba Tomb, reminds the visitors of the atmosphere of the period in which Somuncu Baba lived, with an 800-person masjid with a wooden portico roof, shopping units and a bakery, designed as religious places open to the public for faith tourism.
