Aksemseddin Tomb

It is located in Bolu Province, Göynük District, Cuma District, in the courtyard of Gazi Süleyman Paşa Mosque. After the death of Akşemseddin, the teacher of the spiritual conqueror of Istanbul and the great scientist Fatih Sultan Mehmet, in 1459, his tomb was built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet in H.864/M.1464. The tomb, made of cut stone, has a hexagonal plan and is covered with a dome. There are rectangular windows in niches with pointed arches on both sides of the main walls. Second row windows have pointed arches and plaster gratings. There is an entrance door with a construction inscription on its pediment in a pointed arched niche in the northeast corner of the tomb.
