Alacahöyük
Alacahöyük is 45 km from Çorum. It is a very important cult and art center in the Old Bronze Age and Hittite Age. In Alacahöyük, where four civilization ages were unearthed; First Civilization Age; It is represented by the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk-Ottoman periods. In the first cultural level, all parts of the mound were inhabited during the Late Phrygian Age. According to its ceramics, this floor of small houses is not older than 650 BC. With its temple, large buildings, private-block houses, streets, large and small water channels, city wall, monumental gates with sphinxes, one decorated with embossed middlestads, and the other with pottery, the typical representative of the Hittite Imperial Age, which was built on an unfortified, flat plain, constitutes the second cultural level of the mound. The width of the Sphinx Gate, which was built with andesite blocks on a limestone foundation, is 10 meters. The third civilization level of Alacahöyük is the Old Bronze Age. Alacahöyük Old Bronze Age Dynasty Tombs, which contributed greatly to the enlightenment of the indigenous Hatti Civilization, which was the leading culture of the Hittite culture, constitute the most important finds of this age.
