Alaeddin Hill

Alaeddin Hill is a hill in the city center of Konya, Turkey, which contains important historical structures, including the Alaeddin Mosque and the tomb of eight Anatolian Seljuk Sultans in its courtyard.

It is an oval planned mound with a length of 450 x 350 meters and a height of 20 meters, located close to the last slopes of the mountains on the western edge of the Konya plain. The development of the city throughout its history has been shaped around this hill. The hill, which contains the architectural and archaeological heritage in layers from the Phrygian period to the Republican period, took its name from the Alaeddin Mosque, which was built as the great mosque of the Medieval Konya and the Alaeddin Mansion, also known as the Konya Mansion. Today it is a promenade. A tram line goes around it.

This hill was registered as an "Archaeological, Historical and Natural Protected Area" with the decision of the High Council of Real Estate, Antiquities and Monuments in 1982. With the 2019 "approval" of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, it became a "Natural Site - Qualified Natural Protection Area".
