Amasya Clock Tower
Amasya Clock Tower is located in Amasya City Center on the west side of the Government Bridge. The work was built in 1865 by the Poet Ziya Pasha, the Governor of Amasya. The tower, which was exposed to a fire right after its first construction, experienced its real misfortune in February 1940 and was destroyed by the Governor of the time when the adjacent wooden Helkıs Bridge was demolished and reconstructed as reinforced concrete, on the grounds that it prevented the construction of the bridge and with the promise of a more modern clock tower. The current clock tower, on the other hand, was rebuilt on 18 June 2002 by the Governor of Amasya in accordance with its original form. The construction material is smooth cut stone, brick and wood.
