Anatolian Fortress Castle
On the opposite shore, by the Göksu Stream, is Anadoluhisarı Castle. This romantic castle, adorning the Asian side of the Bosphorus, was built by Yıldırım Sultan Bayazit in 1395 and was named "Güzelcehisar". It was later expanded by Mehmed the Conqueror. Today, it serves as a symbol of Turkish sovereignty as the Turks' first possession on the Bosphorus.
