Antandros Ruins

Henri Kiepert, who conducted research in Anatolia, states in his book that the Antandros acropolis is located on a hill with an altitude of 215, known as Yarmataş, between Altınoluk and Avcılar, and the city spread towards the east. The necropolis of the city is located 2 kilometers west of Yarmataş Hill. During the construction activities, the necropolis area was exposed and salvage excavations were carried out. In the necropolis, which was understood to have been used between the 7th and 2nd centuries BC, it was seen that there were many burials in the form of cremation and direct burial, as well as sarcophagi. tombs placed in two or three rows on top of each other by taking advantage of the slope of the land. Grave souvenirs unearthed from these graves are exhibited in Balıkesir Museum.
