Anzac Cove Inscription and Beach

Anzac Cove is a small cove in Turkey, on the Gallipoli Peninsula. It is famous for the Anzacs landing in this bay during the Dardanelles War. The 600-meter-long bay is surrounded by the Arıburnu hills from the north. After the landing, the beach became the home base for the Anzacs. On Anzac Day on 25 April 1985, the Turkish government officially adopted the name Anzac Cove.

At the end of the Anzac Cove, we encounter the inscription on it, on which the universal message Mustafa Kemal Atatürk wrote in 1934 and announced with the Minister of Internal Affairs of the time. In the book in English:

“Heroes who shed their blood on the lands of this country! Here you are on the soil of a friendly homeland. Sleep in peace and quiet. You are sheep and sheep side by side with the Mehmetçiks. Mothers who sent their children to war from distant lands! Soothe your tears!
