Atatürk House and Ethnography Museum is a museum-house and ethnography museum located in the historical mansion in the center of Tokat, where the Süsoy family lived and where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stayed during his city visits as president. The mansion, which is a 19th century building, is in the Devegörmez district, on 6th Street of Şeyh Şirvani Avenue. It was opened to the public as a museum on 26 June 2007. The mansion, which was built in the second half of the 19th century, belonged to Captain Mustafa Vasfi Bey, who was the headquarters officer of Mustafa Kemal Pasha during the Dardanelles War and the War of Independence.[2] Pasha stayed at his house during his trips to Tokat as the President in the Republican period. After the proclamation of the Republic, Mustafa Kemal Pasha came to Tokat with his wife Latife Hanım on 25 September 1924 during his country tour in the autumn of 1924 and stayed in this mansion for two nights. During this visit, when Mustafa Bey expressed that he needed a school, Mustafa Kemal had Gazipaşa Primary School built in the neighborhood where the house is located. The school, of which Gazi laid the foundation in 1924, was put into service in 1928. Mustafa Kemal met with civil servants and public representatives at the provincial building in Tokat on 19 September during his country tour during the Alphabet Revolution in 1928, and tested the people in the hall from the new alphabet. After having lunch at Mustafa Vasfi Bey's house, he left Tokat. During his country tour in 1930, the President arrived in Tokat on 21 November; After the welcoming ceremony and lunch at the City Hall, he went to the house of Tokat Deputy Mustafa Bey. After Mustafa Vasfi Bey's death in 1934, the belongings in the house were kept in a room. The building was expropriated in 2001; It was allocated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2003 and was restored and converted into a museum.[5] Items known to have been personally used by Atatürk were placed in their places at that time; In the other parts of the house, items that could be found in a Tokat house at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century were placed. The mansion was opened on 26 June 2007 as "Tokat Atatürk House and Ethnography Museum".
