Ayazini Metropolis
Ayazini City (Ayazini Metropolis); İhsaniye district covers a large area that includes the ancient city of Ayazini. It has an important place as the belief center metropolis of Christianity in the Eastern Roman period. Ayazini Metropolis; Phrygian, Roman, Seljuk, Ottoman and Turkish Republic is an important center where many civilizations blend. Turkish Civil architectural structures integrated with rock settlements and cemeteries from past to present constitute the most important features. Ayazini Rock Houses; The rocky area of tuff formation, located at the entrance of the Ayazini Ancient City and on the left side of the road in the town, was also carved into settlements during the Early Byzantine Period. Some houses are one-roomed, some are side by side or on top of each other or carved separately. Some of them are climbed by steps, while others are accessed by tunnel-shaped passages from the inside. Ayazini Rock Tombs; They are in the form of family and single-person rock tomb chambers belonging to the Roman and Byzantine periods, and some of them are carved as double-deckers. The fact that the cemetery of the Ayazini Ancient City is in the same place gives important information in terms of choosing the burial place and that people use the same place. On the façades of the grave rooms, there are triangular pediments with Medusa heads, columned front spaces, and arched boat tombs in the room entered through a door. While some of them are decorated with lion reliefs, one has reliefs of the husband and wife who own the tomb.
