Ayazma Church
The Baptisterium in the garden, which is separated by a wall, iron railing and gate at street level, is accessed from the west by an 11-step staircase. The entrance part is 2.55 meters high and is bordered from the top by an architrave. Above this, there is a pediment bounded by an arch made of bricks. From here, one enters an underground room with a diameter of 4.5 meters and a height of 3.8 meters, the dome of which is made of bricks. It is seen that the floor is paved with stone slabs and the walls are built alternately with rubble stone, brick and lime sand mortar. On the outer side of the cistern, 0.88 meters long, 0.29 meters wide and 0.10 meters thick made of marble, there is a Greek inscription on the outer surface of the cistern with the inscription "Christian Emperor Great King Michael's Tower", and on the inner surface, "It gives good to every body. For his grace is literary” is engraved in a Hebrew inscription. The building, which belongs to the 6th century Byzantine Period, was originally built as a baptistery and later used as a holy spring.
