Aynalı Cave

It is 3.3 kilometers from the city center on the Visit Town Road. It is the best processed and completed of the rock tombs. The tomb, which can be reached from the ground with four steps, was carved into a flat rock. It is 9.8 meters wide and 13 meters high. When viewed from the exterior, it can be seen that it was built with a masterful stonemasonry. The exterior surface of the cave has been polished and polished. The reason why it is called the Mirrored Cave is because the facade of the cave glows when the sun hits it.

This structure is the monumental tomb of Mitra Priest TES, who lived in Amasya during the Hellenistic Age in the 2nd century BC. The fact that the interior of the cave is very large, the colorful paintings on the walls and the "Great Priest Tes" inscription on the pediment of the cave support that this tomb belongs to TES. The grave chamber is rectangular in shape and there is a burial niche and a pit on the right side of the entrance. The surface of the rectangular burial chamber has colorful wall paintings, which are thought to have been used as a monkhouse by the Byzantines in the 11th century, as a second use. In the vault part, there are depictions of twelve apostles, six on the right and six on the left.
