Ayn-ı Ali Mosque

Historical Mosque / Turkiye, Aegean, Manisa

Ayn-ı Ali Mosque

It is a cubic structure with a single dome. Three pointed arch openings carry the narthex domes. Its minaret is in the northeast corner. It is made using brick material. Its pulpit is a simple one made of stone. The crown part of the mihrab, which is in the form of a round-arched niche, is decorated with relief baroque patterns. The body wall, which is built by placing flat bricks between the joints of the stone blocks in the rough direction, results in a double row of hedgehog fringes. The narthex in the north is in the form of a portico system with marble columns, three pointed arches and a dome. There are simple mihrabiye niches on both sides of the stone jamb and arched door. Its mihrab has tibia moldings, baroque character, colonnettes and baroque style vegetal patterns on the crown. The Ayni Ali Mosque and tomb, which is estimated to have been built in the 17th century, lost the characteristics of its era with the repairs it underwent, and lost its appearance with the high buildings around it as a result of a closed city planning.
