Başköy Cemetery and Mosque
The graves in Başköy Cemetery are thought to belong to those who lost their lives in the Battle of Otlukbeli. It is known that in addition to the sculptures dating from the 15th century in the tombs of the Akkoyunlu and Karakoyunlu, the ewer, sedge, poplar tree and horse motifs engraved on the gravestones have different meanings. The rose-bird and vase motifs found on the tombstones of the 16th century bear the characteristics of Ottoman stonework. The mosque, which is still open for worship, was used as a madrasah for a while.
