Bayezid Pasha Mosque

Bayezid Pasha, who later became the grand vizier, had the mosque built in the Beyazıtpaşa Neighborhood, on the east bank of the river, opposite the Künç Bridge, in 1414. The most striking part of the mosque, which has a very elegant appearance with its structure and decorations, is the last congregation place in the north. Six thick square pillars are connected to each other and to the body wall with pointed, thick arches to form five sections. Each section is covered with domes on octagonal pedestals crossed with Turkish triangles. The piers are knitted with smooth cut stones up to the belt level. The arches connecting the piers are of red and white marble. Around these, there are slightly protruding frames made of marble. The upper part of this section is decorated with motifs of curled branches and leaves. The mosque was repaired in 2006 by the General Directorate of Foundations.
